This year, I’ve been so fortunate to have been invited to the Young Composers Meeting 2014 held in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands. The event was organized by Orkest de Ereprijs, Podium Gigant and the Gaudeamus New Music week! I met 15 other young composers from all over the world (Ireland, Australia, Iran, England, Mexico, Ecuador, Bulgaria, China, Canada, Serbia, Latvia, Hungary… you name it!)
We also had the opportunity to work with the musicians of Orkest de Ereprijs and singers from the Royal Conservatory of the Hague, and had seminars and lessons with Martijn Padding, Ed Bennett, Anna Meredith and Louis Andriessen. So much music and fun in one week! Not to mention, we also got a chance to head to Utrecht for a day, and to the Kroller-Muller museum neaer Arnhem (we had to cycle on Dutch bicycles from the entrance of the museum park to the entrance of the museum too!)
Of course, one week is never enough, and I spent the night prior to my flight at the airport with a few other composers who had early flights the next day too! Talk about bonding till the very last moment!
