Commission: Barlow Endowment for Music Composition

Instrumentation: flute, clarinet, piano, violin, cello, percussion and soprano

Program Information:
e(e)-M was written in memory of the 50th Anniversary of Dr Martin Luther King’s iconic “I Have A Dream” speech on August 28 1963. It butchers the word freedom, and while we get close to putting the consonants and vowels back together again, it never really happens. Freedom is unattainable.
