in retro|re-intro:spect has been awarded a grant by the Women’s Philharmonic Advocate. The grant helps fund the performance of in retro|re-intro:spect by the Boston New Music Initiative on April 26 at the Longy School of Music.
WPA was founded in 2008 as a non-profit to recognize the achievement of The Women’s Philharmonic (1980-2004) and build upon its legacy by advocating for the performance of women composers by orchestras and ensembles. It seeks to address the place of both historical and contemporary women composers in today’s orchestral repertoire and serves as a resource for documenting and counteracting the shortage of programming of works by women.
